MYGA & Fixed · Carrier Profile

United Life annuity review.

A 1962 Iowa carrier now inside the Kuvare group, rated A- with a stable outlook, writing straightforward fixed annuities through independent agents. Mid-size and unflashy — which makes the evaluation refreshingly simple.

Financial Strength

The issuer behind the guarantee.

An annuity guarantee is a promise from one company, sometimes lasting forty years. The product matters less than the balance sheet standing behind it.

Before You Buy

Three things to understand about United Life.

The rating belongs to a group, and that is worth understanding

AM Best rates United Life inside the Kuvare Retail Group alongside Guaranty Income Life, affirming the A- with a stable outlook in December 2025 and citing improved capitalization and premium growth. Group ratings mean the assessment reflects the combined organization's strength; the December affirmation also noted Kuvare's Bermuda reinsurer at the same A-. None of that is unusual — it simply means your diligence checks the group, not just the Cedar Rapids name.

A- is the workhorse tier of the fixed annuity market

United Life competes where most real MYGA shopping happens: the A- band, above the B-tier rate leaders and below the strength-premium mutuals. Rates from this tier are typically meaningfully better than A+ carriers offer, and the rating still clears the A-minus floor most planners apply. The standard discipline applies — premium inside your state guaranty limit, guaranteed renewal minimums in writing.

Availability is the first check, not the last

Licensed in roughly 37 states, United Life simply is not an option everywhere. Confirm licensure in your state at your insurance department before spending time on quotes — and note that state availability also determines which guaranty association would stand behind the contract, which is the number that sizes the premium.

Background

How to read any carrier.

Palm Wealth Capital publishes independent annuity research and education. No carrier pays for placement on this site. Nothing here is individualized investment, tax, or legal advice, and no page on this site is a recommendation to buy or avoid any contract. Annuity guarantees rely on the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company.

We will check United Life’s current AM Best rating and outlook against the date on this page, read the surrender schedule and any market value adjustment, price the riders, and tell you what the guaranteed terms are rather than the illustrated ones.
